Charles Moran Best Essay Prize Contest Co-ordinator and Judge, Writing Program
University of Massachusetts Amherst (2019 - 2022)

  • Received student submissions  for ENGLWRIT111, ENGLWRIT112, and Junior Year Writing

  • Created, organized, and maintained judging spreadsheets 

  • Sent out bi-weekly emails to judges with agendas and reminders for upcoming meetings

  • Participated in and took notes during bi-weekly meetings with judges

  • Created and proofread letters and certificates to winners and their instructors

  • Communicated with submitters on behalf of the Best Text committee and with Writing Program instructors and directors on judges’ progress with reading submissions

  • Liaised between judges of Best Text; the Student Writing Anthology; and finance manager regarding prize money

  • Proofread permission statement for publication consent in the campus institutional repository

  • Selected winners and honorable mentions for the contest

Teaching Associate

  • Taught writing and reading skills to incoming freshmen (in-person and online)

  • Designed lesson plans, presentations, and handouts related to close-reading and writing skills

  • Wrote chapter openings for the anthology

  • Edited and proofread the entries in the collection before publication

  • Converted the documents to be PDF-OCR recognizable

  • Wrote close captions and transcripts for multimodal pieces

  • Ensured all panelists were in attendance for respective panel times

Kinney Center for Interdisciplinary Renaissance Studies (2020)

  • Created forensic reports that outlined the strengths and possible avenues of improvement for websites

  • Designed website layout and procured visuals that reflected the Center’s five-year programming for www.renaissanceoftheearth.com

  • Researched and curated resource pages for future students

  • Uploaded photos and videos to “Public Humanities” pages

  • Updated and maintained “Events” calendars for both websites

  • Uploaded and proofread descriptions of pages that reflect the information on the main Kinney Renaissance Center website
